“ Oysterhead Pizza Company is a small, wood-fired pizza shop located in downtown Damariscotta. On a side street, you'll find a dedicated parking area with a few spaces. Outside, you'll find a nice seating area for when the weather is nice. When you walk through the doors, you're greeted with a welcoming smoky, fireplace smell that serves as a reminder that you're about to eat some deliciouswood-fired pizza. Inside, the lighting is warm. The seating area is small, but it's cozy. The staff is very friendly and quick to make recommendations for drinks and pizza. They do have slices at the counter, but I definitely recommend waiting for a fresh pie. During our visit, I ordered two small pizzas: the Johnny Fontane and the OPC Margherita pizza. My wife went with the Lisa Simpson (vegan pizza). While waiting for the pizza, I enjoyed a tasty beer from a Maine craft brewery. There are a number of local craft beers available, along with ciders, non-alcoholic beers, and sodas. The pizza looked incredible when it came to our table. The Johnny Fontane was colorful and vibrant. It had a pleasant spice from the fresh jalapenos which paired well with the sweetness of the sauce. The base of the pizza was perfectly crisp and thin. The crust was fluffy, light, and airy. I feel like I could eat a ton of this pizza without filling up because of the lightness of the dough. The Lisa Simpson was chock full of fresh ingredients with a very tasty sauce and a lovely seasoning spread throughout (but most noticeable when eating the crust). The kale was prepared perfectly: not soggy and not burned to a crisp - just right! The vegan cheese was tastefully applied. Often, adding too much vegan cheese will add a gooeyness to pizza that isn't ideal, but the folks over at Oysterhead Pizza Company do it right. The OPC Margherita has exceptional flavor. The garlic puree adds a spicy medley of flavor to an already outstanding sauce and delicious fresh mozzarella. The fresh basil is a nice touch. I seriously can't stop eating this pie, despite being full. Overall, Oysterhead Pizza Company earns high marks for delicious pizza, great service, and an excellent atmosphere. I will definitely be returning to dine outside in the summer months. ”

“ 6 of us stopped in for salad and pizza, first time, 2 were 8 and 5 year old grandkids, great games keep them occupied, started with house salad, simple baby greens, pepper strips, tomatoes both assorted colors, thin red onions, dressing was wonderful, maybe had raspberry vinegar? well done, then smoked and glazed wings, smoked right out back, glazed and finished in the oven, best wings I've had in whenever. pizzas we had veggie with fresh tomatoes, kale peppers, nice, pepperoni was loaded with the spicy sausages, cheese and tomato sauce used are top shelf, then came the deep-dish pizza, comes in a cast iron pan, cooked perfectly with crust the was crunchy, worth eating alone, loads of creamy cheese, pepperoni, service was cheerful and knowledgeable, beer selection was adventurous, seating is limited, but well worth a try. ”

“ Best pizza I've had in Maine. Great atmosphere, the food is amazing and the service was great. I opted to go here for my birthday this year. I had heard good things. I was immediately interested when I read the menu. The names of the pizzas are very cool, if you know who they are. The atmosphere is casual and eclectic. It kinda feels like a band could walk through the door at any moment and ask where they could set up. It is a little limited on seating and you should be willing to get cozy and share a table with others. We ordered a couple of the Drexel Spivey pizzas. Deep dish with pepperoni. Super ingredients and top quality. I do wish the pepperoni had been able to get more fire, but that's the style of pizza. I'll get a regular pepperoni the next trip. For the deep dish, it was cooked and then came out for application of what seemed to be an entire pound of mozzarella. After a few moments back under the heat, it was pulled and Romano Or Parmesan was added and returned to the heat. The cheese was boiling when it came out. Amazing. Their sauce is simple and clean. Not bitter or too acidic at all. Another home run. This is now a regular. It's easy to get to and has parking on the side of the building. It's in an amazing location, but could be a challenge to access during the tourist season. A solid choice for great pizza. ”
